TECHNOLOGY OF FIT FLOP

What research has been done on Fit Flops

Fit Flops were developed in the UK at the centre for Human Performance at the London South Bank University after years of active research, which resulted in a patented technology known the 'micro-wobbleboard' sole. Independent research followed at the University of Salford which confirmed that Fit Flops are indeed effective in toning leg and body core muscles by slightly changing how the wearer walks. Their status as effective posture shoes was confirmed by this research.

Details of the research trials are as follows.

  • A shock test quickly established that Fit Flops absorb 17% more shock than regular trainers.
  • The next test found that Fit Flops increase the heel strike aversion (which may help to diffuse pressure away from the shock spots on the foot).
  • Tests of muscle usage showed that Fit Flops engage your leg muscles more while you wear them than other posture shoe brands.
  • Activation muscle tests established that wearing Fit Flops activates the leg muscles for longer periods of time during every single step.

What is the structure of a Fit Flop that makes it so special

The core technology of the Fit Flop is built around a patent-pending, multi-density leg muscle loading ‘microwobbleboard’ midsole that creates a slightly unstable surface on which to walk. This slight instability tricks the brain into making the body stand upright, since the brain thinks that the shoe is trying to make you fall over, not true but the auto-response with Fit Flops is very marked and the result is a much straighter posture, with knock-on health benefits. The term ‘microwobbleboard’ accurately described the slight curvature of the sole of any pair of Fit Flops that gives so many benefits in terms of muscle workout, better posture and relief of some medical symptoms according to customer testimony. The multi-density component of the Fit Flop curved sole is designed to slow down the step follow-through to give maximum working out of the leg muscles.
